I currently teach maritime history and early modern Dutch history at Leiden University, and have taught courses in colonial and global history, early modern history, and modern history. My teaching interests furthermore include Atlantic history, the trans-Atlantic slave trade, early modern correspondence, and the history of colonization of the early modern Americas.

In this section can find an overview of the courses I have taught. You can also have a look at the digital humanities project I have set up as part of Leiden University’s Teaching Innovation scheme.

In my classes I use sources that I also use for my own research. Early modern letters from the Americas form a fantastic resource for students to work with. Source: High Court of Admiralty 30, inv. no. 223.
